The services of Santé, Inc, through La  Clinica de la Mariposa, are provided by volunteer chiropractic, dentistry, medical, massage therapy, nursing, acupuncture, psychological, and other health care professionals.  Although each group of volunteers making up a  Clinica staff does not usually include representatives of all of these disciplines, each clinic does offer basic health care services provided by medical and chiropractic physicians.

     Health care is provided by the itinerant clinica, traveling from community to community covering ten CFCA-sponsored communities during the course of our three annual visits.  There are currently 1400 patients being served by La  Clinica de la Mariposa.

    Patient records are maintained and available during the clinics, and patients usually visit La  Clinica two or three times during the volunteers' stop in their communities.  La  Clinica provides, as a result, continuing oversight and on-going care to its patients.

     La  Clinica plans to develop and expand its range of mental health services.  Santé is in the early stages of developing a plan to serve abused women and children, providing counseling services involving selected and trained staff members (las promotoras), professionally trained counselors, and the use, where appropriate, of hand puppets.

     Finally, Santé is developing plans to develop a major capital project, the purchase of a suitable property and construction of a secure and adequately sized building to serve as headquarters of Santé in Costa Rica.  The building will be used to store supplies and patient records and as a conveniently located clinic site.
